Case files, 1919-1949.

As the chief policing agent for the sale of securities, which includes bonds and stocks, the securities commissioner from 1919 to 1935 investigated companies and individuals who may have been in violation of the state securities laws. The attorney general, as State Securities Commissioner, assumed these duties from 1935 to 1969. This series consists of correspondence, depositions, advertising material, and photographs collected by the commission in its investigation of a company. The files contain summaries of company assets and financial statements, registration applications, audits, and summaries of Security Commission meetings to review applications. Much of the correspondence was generated by William C. Oates who served as Commissioner from 1919 to ca.1935.
